CEBU, Philippines - Four Cebuano judokas will see action in the Green Archers Judo Championships 2011 set on July 16 to 17 at La Salle Greenhills in Manila.
They are Rey Carriaga and Hazel Faye Laude of the University of Cebu, Lea Sedoriosa of Doce Pares and Johannsen Quinio of the University of San Carlos.
Laude and Sedoriosa both won bronze medals during the revival of the Philippine National Games two months ago in Bacolod.
Carriaga and Quinio, for their part, also hope to steal the limelight of the event organized by the La Salle Greenhills Judo Club and its Sports Program Development Office.
The competition fatures the kids, juniors and all-white class.
The juniors bracket is for participants aged 19 years old and below. The men and women’s division will have nine weight categories.
The all-White battle has no age limit in all of the eight weight divisions.
For the kids, the boys will be classified into four classes: 7-under, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-16 years old, while the distaff side will not include the 8-10 bracket. Each bracket except the 7-under class has three weight classes each. (FREEMAN)
