Two Bridges Challenge on Aug. 21

- Lemuel P. Maglinte -

CEBU, Philippines - Elite and fun runners gear up for another challenging event as Cebu Doctors' University launches the sixth edition of its University Run dubbed as "Two Bridge Challenge" slated this August 21 at the Mandaue reclamation area.

To make this different from the past University Runs, the organizers decided to stretch its running distances that includes 21k half marathon and 13k run.

Short distance categories such as 6k and 3 k are still available for beginners.

Over 3,000 running enthusiasts, the bulk of which coming from CDU, are set to test their skills and speed on the road.

The participants for the half marathon will tackle a new route that is described by race directors Dr. Potenciano "Yong" Larrazabal III and Dr. Peter Mancao as challenging considering this is the first time the two famous bridges in Cebu– Marcelo Fernan Bridge and the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge, will be used in a long distance race.

On the other hand, Larrazabal disclosed that the income they will be generating in the race will be utilized in medical missions of the Run for Sight Foundation.

The top five winners in each division will receive cash prizes courtesy of ThreeSixty Pharmacy, while all the finishers for the 21k and 13k category will receive a specially-designed medal.

Registration for the 6th CDU Run is now going on at Center for Sight Foundation in Cebu Doctors' Hospital and Nike Athletic at Banilad Town Center. Registration fee is pegged at P600 for 21k, P450 for 13k, P300 for 6k and P250. – THE FREEMAN
