CEBU, Philippines - The La Sallians here join the rest of the country in celebrating De La Salle’s Centennial Anniversary by spearheading a running event, the Animo La Salle 12-kilometer Run at the Cebu International Convention Center on July 10.
Aside from the 12K, there will also be a 3K and 6K category.
Organized by De La Salle-Andres Soriano Memorial College Alumni Association, the race is open to everybody who wants to sweat it out and join the La Sallians in celebrating their hundred years of presence in the country.
“We’ve been planning this since January. There are so many running events that are taking place here so why not organize our own run, which will also benefit our school,” said Vic Reyes, one of the event primovers during a press conference yesterday at Robinson's Place.
The Animo Run has been conceptualized in Manila two years ago, prompting the Cebu-based La Salle graduates to follow suit.
“Hopefully we can also make it an annual event so that we can able to pursue some projects that the alumni association is working aside from the annual golf tournament we have,” said Roberto Martinez.
The organizers are positive they can attract as many runners possible because there are two other running events that will take place on that day.
Although it's a fund-raising activity, the top five finishers in the 6K and 12K will receive cash prizes.
Registration fee is pegged at P300 for the 12K and P250 for the 6K and 3K. Entry forms are available at Runnr in Ayala Center Cebu, Casa Ilongga at Robinson’s Place and at the Cebu City Sports Center. Race packets will be distributed on July 7.
