- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - Runners will get a chance to sleep through the morning if they join “Run Forward” on July 24 at Persimmon Plus along M.J. Cuenco Ave. in Mabolo, this city.

This event is set to kick off at 4 o’clock in the afternoon and organizers expect over a thousand to join the race.

Aside from giving runners the luxury of time to get extra hours of sleep, they will be treated to a rave party after the race.

“Including a rave party is our way of attracting the younger generation to join the event,” said Dr. Marissa Yoon, committee chairman of the said event in yesterday’s launching at the City Sports Club.

Race lengths are 3 and 5-kilometers under the male and female divisions.

Registration for this event begins tomorrow and ends on July 21 at Runnr in Ayala Center, Urban Indulgence at Persimmon Plus and the Cebu City Sports Center.

Entry fee is pegged at P300, which entitle the runner to a singlet, race bib, refreshments, raffle ticket, and free entrance for the party to be hosted by The Penthouse.

A total of P42 thousand in cash prizes will be at stake for this event. There is also a prize for the biggest delegation.

Aside from the cash prizes, medals, gift certificates and a plaque will be given away in this Runcheck-managed event.

A special prize will also be given to the runner with the funkiest/rave attire as well as to the Ms. & Mr. Lecit-E according to Dean Ceniza from IPI.

This event also helps promote environmental awareness and will also allow the participants to help the less fortunate, who are beneficiaries of the various projects of the Zonta Club of Cebu I.

Zonta Club 1 is one of the country’s pioneering women’s clubs. This club has been involved in projects concerning education, protection of children and women, human resources and professional development, health delivery system, international linkages and affairs, arts, culture and as well as on environmental concerns.

“We’re so happy to be the beneficiary of this event since we are into ecology projects, helping women in Budlaan’s livelihood,” said Stella Bernabe, president of Zonta Club of Cebu 1. –(FREEMAN)
