CEBU, Philippines - The ever hardworking Cebuana table tennis coach Jessica Jawad-Honoridez brought pride and honor to Cebu by becoming one of the first five Filipino coaches ever to secure an International Course Conductor license from the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
Aside from producing top-caliber athletes, Honoridez said getting a license from ITTF is a fulfillment of her decorated career. She became table tennis coach in 1997.
“This is the way for me to share what I have to other coaches and that I’m credible enough since it’s the International Table Tennis Federation that awarded me with the license,” said Honoridez.
Honoridez went through a series of training during the International Course Conductor’s Training held last June 4-11 at the Makati City Coliseum. Out of the 20 hopefuls who underwent practical, theory and written phase of the licensure examination, only five of them passed with flying colors.
“I’m very glad with the achievement. I was informed by the ITTF that I passed and that I am now a certified International Course Conductor. My sacrifices and efforts really paid off,” said Honoridez, who is doubly inspired by her baby Lashi.
Honoridez bared that the said training was already conducted in 2006. She was also part of the top five but unfortunately they were not able to comply with the requirements needed.
“Ako gyud gi-rate akong kaugalingon nga dili lang to tsamba sa una. Nagpasalamat ko nga ako gyud na prove I can make it,” Honoridez said.
As for her initial move, Honoridez said she might conduct seminars in the Visayas and Mindanao areas.
Honoridez, meanwhile, expressed her profound gratitude to the University of Cebu (UC) for its continued support to her team as well as to the Cebu City Sports Commission. — (FREEMAN)
