Green to take on Red in Abbariao cage final

CEBU, Philippines -  Teams Green and Red knocked out separate foes to set up a sudden-death championship duel in the 1st Major Alfonso C. Abbariao Memorial Cup basketball tournament at the Benedicto College gym along A.S. Fortuna Street in Brgy. Banilad, Mandaue City.

 Green, which topped the elimination round with an 8-2 win-loss record, escaped with a 57-50 victory over the fourth-ranked Yellow, while the second seed Red humbled the Blue squad of District Collector Ronnie Silvestre, 47-33.

Aside from exhibiting his penchant in passing, Customs Police Jingjing Rama also flaunted his accurate outside sniping to pace Green with 23 points.

Red, on the other hand, was led by Boodie Monteño with 12 points, while Rizzan Herbito sank 13 markers for Blue. (FREEMAN)
