CEBU, Philippines - After winning by default over San Marino Corned Tuna, Gaisano Capital again capitalized on its height advantage to hit back at Lion Tiger Aerosol, 92-85, and take a 2-0 lead in the semifinal round of the 5th CESAFI Partners' Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.

Since their game against the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons is non-bearing, the UC Webmasters-manned seeks to sweep its local rivals as it takes on Rose Aquarius Merchandising in the main match today at 6:30 pm.

Gaisano Capital though is already assured of a finals seat even it loses to Rose Aquarius.

Six-foot-nine skycraper Junemar Fajardo sowed hardcourt terror anew to pace Gaisano Capital with 27 points, while Robinson Mohammad bombarded five triples of his 19-point output. Roger Pogoy and Gerald Ampoon added 16 and 11 markers, respectively.

Lion Tiger, which staged a minor comeback in the third period, was led by John Michael Abad and Edrian-Lao with 18 points apiece followed by Chris Perolino with 17.

Earlier, the Fighting Maroons escaped with a 60-57 victory over Rose Aquarius.

Mike Silungan, whose two free throws in the final 7.3 seconds of the regulation period sent the game into overtime, regained his shooting touch to lead UP with 16 points.

Fritz Dajalos and Earvin Ferraren combined for 23 points for Rose Aquarius.
