Cebufest
If you want your fill for sports, head out to the South Road Properties this weekend for the Cebufest.
There are the usual events like football, boxing, chess and batted sports. Then there are also air soft, dancesport, flag football, wake boarding, kite boarding, jet ski racing, and many more.
This afternoon, the Sundown Half Marathon will be held. The race will start late afternoon and will be held at the SRP.
The Cebufest will run until next weekend and is open free to the public. There are even free rides that will be offered today for those without their own transportation to take them to the SRP.
Two events that I am particularly interested in are kite boarding and wake boarding.
While I have seen such on television, nothing beats seeing them live.
Keep posted for the schedule of the events.
By the way, if you are going to the SRP, wear comfortable clothes and bring hats or umbrellas and sunscreen.

In the nightly television news, the Palarong Pambansa in Dapitan City is getting a lot of airtime.
This is good news for the athletes, who get the nationwide recognition that is due them for this event, but what is sad is the reports of the many athletes and officials, who have been severely affected by the heat.
We support the plan not to hold the Palarong Pambansa annually and we hope that officials of the Department of Education would look into making sure that the lives of the participants would not be put in jeopardy.
It’s a good thing that medical personnel are on hand in the playing venues and there has been no major incident that has been reported yet.
There are many things that can be improved in the Palaro including the choice of playing venues for particular events and billeting facilities.
A common complaint that we receive is that the school where a delegation in staying for the duration of the Palaro is not equipped to house many people in terms of comfort rooms and water supply.
Then there is also the matter of distance from the billeting area to the venue of the competitions.
While we are trying to make do with what we have, it would also be good that our officials would find ways to make the event better as each year passes. Maybe a longer period to prepare would allow them to address such concerns.
