Cebu City places 3rd in LLP tourney

CEBU, Philippines -  Cebu City somehow made an impression in the first major softball tournament it joined in seven years after its little league softbelles finished third in the 2011 Little League Philippine Series in Lipa City.

Little League Philippines assistant administrator Chito Gonzalez confirmed the Cebuanas’ feat to LLP Cebu president Jesse Bernad.

The youthful Cebuanas mercilessly pounded Manila South, 6-0, in the battle for third place honors. Overall, they ended their campaign with a decent 3-2 win-loss record.

However, their senior counterparts, who are mostly from Abellana National School, went home empty-handed after bowing to Bacolod City, 8-9.

But for sure they got the needed exposure that might be of big use to them in their bid for top honors in the Palarong Pambansa next month in Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte. (FREEMAN)
