Parklane to spearhead 'Dagan Para ni Maning'

CEBU, Philippines -  The management of Parklane International Hotel will pay tribute to their beloved late president, Manuel “Maning” G. Ting, by organizing a running event dubbed as “Hunat Sugbu-Dagan Para ni Maning" on May 15 at the Terraces grounds of Ayala Center Cebu.

The races features the 5K and 15K categories.

The 5K is for the beginners and intermediate runners, while the 15K is for the the seasoned and competitive ones.

Although it is being staged in memory of Manuel Ting, the organizers still would like to give something for the top performers.

Aside from gift certificates and medals, the champion in the 15K will take home P7,000, while the runners-up will pocket P5,000. The third placers will get P3,000.

The top three 3K finishers will receive P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

" Since this run is in honor of our beloved late president, Manuel "Maning" Ting, we are planning to make it an annual memorial run until justice is served," said running event chairman Stephen James Taylaran

Registration fee is pegged at P250 inclusive of a specially designed running shirt.

"We have a cheap registration fee because we do this run not for money making but to give treat the runners and that is the true essence of running," said Raffy Uytiepo, one of the race organizers.

Although the event has just been launched, there are now over a hundred runners that have registered.

Only 1,500 runners will be accepted in the race including the close to 200 employees of Parklane.

Entry forms are available at RUNNR, Casa Ilongga at Robinson's Place and at the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC).

The deadline for registration is on May 9. (FREEMAN)
