Cebu City batters stumble anew in Lipa

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - CEBU City's senior league team could only hope for a graceful exit today after it failed to move up to the next round following its defeat against Bulacan in the ongoing Little League Philippine Series in Lipa City yesterday.

The senior girls mainly composed of players from the Abellana National School bowed to Bulacan, 10-16.

Bulacan was up by four runs then the Cebuanas came alive and zoomed to a 10-4 lead.

The six-point lead, however, made the Cebuanas a bit complacent and Bulacan drove in four runs to tie the count at 10-all.

By the fifth inning Bulacan regained the lead and never looked back from there.

With three straight losses, all the senior Cebuanas could ask for is a graceful exit when they face the veteran-laden Bacolod City squad today.

That as the Cebuanas also suffered a heart-breaking loss to Cavite, 4-5.

Jackson Genolaga's team forged a one-inning extension after a 4-all score, but Cavite pulled one more run to win the game.

On the other hand, the younger Cebuanas stand on shaky grounds today after losing its second game to Muntinlupa, 2-7.

Cebu City's little league softbelles were set to play against the International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM) and Cavite yesterday but the result of their game as well as that of their male counterparts were not yet available as of presstime.

Today, Cebu City's LLS bets will be facing Manila South for their last elimination round assignment while the boys will be facing Talisay.
