Tutor bags title in Beachathon

CEBU, Philippines - Christy Sevilleno-Tutor made the most of a visit to her hometown during the Holy Week with a convincing victory in the women’s open of the 1st Bantayan Beachathon at Sugar Beach.

Sevilleno-Tutor took advantage of her familiarity of the place to win the top spot of the women’s 5-kilometer run with a time of 17 minutes and 35.18 seconds.

Alyssa Lagahit came out second with 17:46:78 while the ever-daring Merlita Arias-Dunkin wound up third with her 18:46:32 clocking.

The men’s side, on the other hand, saw Jordan Bacong finish on top with 14:20.

Noel Tillor outsprinted Ian Bernido to come out second with 14:29:06 while Bernido settled third with 14:29:64 clocking.

On the other hand, Andrew Canonigo also grabbed part of the limelight as he dominated the “grass skirt” class which was also for a distance of 5 kilometers.

Canonigo finished in 19:15:07 with Padrino Tugdong taking second with a time of 21:47:62 while Jesson Cuyos wound up third with his 22:22:94 clocking.

The Flores family composed of Dave Christopher, John Christopher and Ireneo Flores came out as the fastest family with a time of 23:35:36 while F1 runner Bea Villo was adjudged as the participant with the best beach attire.

The event organized by Runcheck was supported by Lolo Tinong’s Bakery, Summit Mineral Water / 100Plus for the Runners’ hydration, Captain A Seafood Grill, Holiday Gym & Spa, MasterLine, and Metrografix.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
