Satera, Espinosa top Smart netfest

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines -  Fritz Satera and Hannah Grace Espinosa were named best players leading the cast at the end of the 2011 Smart Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit at the Cebu Country Club yesterday.

Satera, despite still trying to recover from injury, managed to take the boys’ 18-under class title against the visiting Rogelio Estanio Jr., 10-9 in a straight 10 final.

Satera’s determination despite the odds got him the best player award among the boys who saw action.

The other boys’ winners were Arthur Craig Pantino, who dumped Jan Godfrey Seno, 10-8 to wrest the boys’ 12 under class while Marc Suson surprised the rest with a convincing 10-1 triumph over Bernie Buanghug to rule the boys’ 10.

Christopher Encarnacion dominated the boys’ 14 over Whismark Basanal, 10-4 while Rogelio Estanio Jr. escaped defeat against Calvin Canlas, 10-9 in the boys’ 16 class.

On the other hand, Hannah Grace Espinosa heads the winners of the distaff side a sterling performance in the girls’ 16 category.

Espinosa sealed her bid with a 10-4 triumph against Crissiane Kintanar, 10-4.

Kintanar, however, got the girls’14-crown at the expense of Manila’s Rafa Villanueva.

Like Kintanar, Villanueva ended with a 1-2 finish after taking the girls’ 12 crown over Zethley Mae Alferez with a 10-3 win.

Sally Mae Siso dominated the girls’18 over a player from South Cotabato, Aira Mae Putiz, 10-2 to complete the winners’ cast. (FREEMAN)
