SCSIT faces Ave Maria in MLKP-CBA hoop today

- GGM -

CEBU, Philippines - Exciting basketball action is expected to wow the local basketball fans tonight when unbeaten teams Salazar College of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers and Ave Maria Sanctuary Park dispute the solo lead in the 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Basketball Association (MLKP-CBA) season at the USC gym.

Earlier, Talisay City tests the struggling Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights as they too try to break their own tie of 1-2 win-loss records.

The Skyblazers, one of the underdogs before the game started when the respective lineups were not yet divulged, have soon become the legitimate contender especially with 6-8 center Rino Berame at the frontline. They can also expect more scoring from the seasoned Mark Abadia and could lend sufficient floor leadership from ex-pro Jimwell Torion.

Ave Maria can rely on the ragtag line-up composed of ex-pros Jercules Tangkay and Danny Aying plus some other tough players in the likes of Alex Cainglet, Aldrin Ocañada, Jerry Cavan, Ope Abellana and Enrico Llanto. They will be supported by some USJ-R crew that include Kurt Amores, Jabe Delfino and Armand Ponce.

Meanwhile, the Cyber Knights of coach Titing Manalili can rely on Alano Caputolan, Bernie Ursal, Ronaldo Bucao, Abe Galinato and Michael Luga, Morsie Akad and Milfred Sampelo among others.

Talisay City, which pulled a major upset against the other struggling team Hotel Fortuna last week, is led by streak shooter Jayford Rodriguez. (FREEMAN)
