Huge turnout for age group triathlon

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu leg of the 2011 SPEEDO National Age-group Triathlon Series this Sunday in Plantation Bay Resort and Spa has surpassed the total number entries of the Davao leg after attracting 153 entries.

The total number of registered triathletes has tripled last year’s entries that caught organizers by surprise.

The kick off leg of this year’s NAGT held in Subic had close to 200 triathletes while the Davao leg had close to a hundred entries making the Cebu leg the biggest under the Visayas-Mindanao area so far.

Of the total number of entries, 30 are from Negros area while 15 are from Manila plus an entry from Vancouver and Japan.

Those who have not yet registered can still enlist until today at SPEEDO or Runnr in Ayala Center-Cebu or at SPEEDO in SM, Philippine Sports Commission-VII Office at the Cebu City Sports Center or at Holiday Gym and Spa.

However, only those included in the first 170 are assured to have an event t-shirt each.

Race kits will also be distributed today at SPEEDO in Ayala while participants can practice at Plantation Bay tomorrow from 1 to 4 pm providing one will wear the bracelets provided for them. (FREEMAN)
