Sebial rules PMSCCI chessfest

CEBU, Philippines - Kierlyn Sebial of Bulacao National High School bagged the juniors’ class title in the 2nd PMS Chess Club Inc. (PMSCCI) Monthly Chess Tournament Cup the other day at Tabunok, Talisay City.

After seven rounds of the Swiss System event, Sebial emerged victorious against equally-tough John Rynyl Panal of Cansojong National High School, who placed second.

Kenneth Sebial occupied the third place while Panal’s teammate, Jose Mark Estillore settled for the fourth place.

Completing the final five cast were Gemaila Rabago of St. Scholastica’s Academy.

On the other hand, Justice Sousa of Talisay Elementary School got a hair-line advantage against runner up Mardion Panolino, to claim the kiddies’ class title.

Sousa was just one point ahead of Panolino.

Ivan Campaner of Bulacao Elementary School and Andy John Perialde, occupied the third and fourth places, respectively.

Meanwhile, along with the tournament was a group competition participated in by children aged eight years old wherein huge chess pieces and a tarpaulin chessboard with 4 ft x 4 ft measurement were used. (FREEMAN)
