Uy leads winners in Golf for Japan
CEBU, Philippines - Jerry Tan Uy led the winners of last Saturday’s Golf for Japan tournament played at the Cebu Country Club.
The event, which was also the club’s monthly medal for March, was held to help raise funds for the club to send some relief goods to the quake and tsunami-stricken country.
Uy had a net score of 64 strokes and edged Andrew Parrott in the countback to take the lowest net plum.
The lowest gross honors for class A went to Jovi Neri, who shot one-under-par 71 strokes off nines of 34 and 37.
The lowest net plum for the premiere handicap class went to Gabriel Yap, Jr. with 67 while runner-up honors went to Jufil Sato with 69.
Parrott took the lowest net title for class B with 78 strokes off identical nines of 39.
Wayne Congmon was the lowest net winner for class B with 67 followed by Glenn Sebastian with 69 as runner-up. Sebastian won the trophy after pulling past Boy Escaño in the countback.
Henry Chin Uy won the lowest gross plum for class C shooting 87 strokes and beating Kuniji Fukuda in the countback.
Fukuda won the lowest net plum for the class with 65 while runner-up honors went to Hidetaka Murano with 68.
June Luna had a gross 95, which was the best for class D. The lowest net honors went to Hiroyuki Saito with 69 while runner-up honors went to Ramon Escario with 70.
The seniors’ division title went top Masatsugu Ochiai with a gross score of 79 strokes. This is the category for players aged 60 years old and up.
Edgar Chiongbian had the lowest net among the seniors with 71 strokes edging Robin Craze in the countback. Craze settled for the runner-up honors.
The guest division title went to Tedd Almario with a net score of 75 strokes in the Callaway system while runner-up honors went to Akira Hatano with a net score of 77 edging Yasuhiko Sakaguchi. (FREEMAN)
