P200T at stake in Cebu City darts tourney
CEBU, Philippines - The country's top caliber darts players will once again converge in the Queen City of the South to slug it out for the huge cash prizes at stake in the P200,000 Cebu City National Darts Open on March 25 at the Yayoy’s Grill and Resto Bar in Brgy. Capitol Site, this city.
The Cebu City Hall Employees Darts Association (CHEDA)-organized tournament features six categories - draw doubles, 4-person team, draw triples, youth singles, seniors singles and open singles.
"This is another step for the Cebu City government to organize a tournament like this that aims to help darters from all walks of life including up to the grassroots level," said CHEDA president Bert Colong during a press conference yesterday at Yayoy's Grill and Resto Bat.
Close to 200 darters from all over the country are expected to participate in the three-day tilt. Among the strong title contenders in the open singles are Boie Parfan III, Ian Perez, Boy Diongson and Jojo Barellano.
Aside from host Cebu, players from Baguio, Cavite, Marikina, Ilo-ilo, Dipolog, Maasin, General Santos and Tanjay will also be coming over to show their stuff.
The open division champion will pocket P20,000, while the second and third will receive P8,000 and P4,000, respectively.
Registration fee is pegged at P250 for the draw doubles, draw triples and seniors singles, P500 for the open singles and P1200 for the 4-person team.
There will be no entry fee in the youth category as CHEDA’s way of encouraging the youth to play darts in an early stage of their lives.
