Cebuano swimmer shines in nat'l try-outs
CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano tanker Anthony Linn Navarro made impression in the National Try-outs recently in Makati City.
The lone Cebuano bet under the care of coach Rolando Alvarez won three golds through the 400m and 200m individual medley and the 200m breaststroke.
Navarro also took away four silvers in the 50m,100m and 200mm backstroke and 100m breaststroke.
At the moment, Alvarez is waiting for an update from the Philippine Aquatic Sports Association(PASA) if Navarro made the cut for the PHL Youth team.
Meanwhile, Alvarez is busy preparing for his new task as swimming developmental officer of PASA.
PASA president Mark Joseph said appointing SDO’s all over the country is part of the association’s effort of localizing their programs.
“This is a big step in the decentralization of the PASA administration, empowerment of clubs and coaches in their areas of responsibility,” said Joseph. – (FREEMAN)
