Summit Boxfest Ano-os posts quick win

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - Lilo-an’s lone bet, Rick Ano-os posted the shortest victory in February’s final battle of the 2011 Summit Natural Drinking Water Amateur Boxing Series at Gaisano Country Mall’s carpark in Banilad, this city.

Ano-os claimed victory at 25 seconds in the third round of the 48 kilograms class after the referee stopped the contest when Talamban’s Boy Larawan got injured.

University of the Visayas’ 52 kgs bet Danlou Codilla and 57 kgs Christian Apawan both won their respective assignments.

Codilla defeated Sanai’s Sherwin Caday while Apawan silenced Philippine Australian Boxing Club’s Rodel Wenceslao.

PABC had two wins and two losses as aside from Wenceslao, teammate Ryan Cagatulla also bowed down to Camotes’ Mardy Moaña in the 57 kgs division.

Two other PABC entries, however, scored wins with 25 kgs Joebert Cabaluna beating Banilad’s Gabriel Besinga and 34 kgs Jeffrey Estella dumped Jegmark Longakit.

On the other hand, Margarito Moya saved Sanai’s day by overpowering Cabancalan’s Polid Banal in the 41 kgs class while another teammate 60 kgs Ryan Maano lost to Pardo’s Benjie Rellon.

Like Sanai, Cabancalan had a 1-2 win-loss card that day with only 57 kgs Reoxyl Tabogon winning his match over Consolacion’s Eleno Traya as aside from Banal, another 41 kgs division entry Richard Quilatan was outsmarted by Pit-os’ Warren Cagumba.

Another Consolacion-based boxer, Ritchie Montealto won against Florencio Urot’s Christian Bacolod in the 48 kgs class, Lapu-Lapu’s Jeffrey Deiparine defeating Ormoc’s Marvin Mestola. — (FREEMAN)
