CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Filipino-Chinese Volunteers Fire Brigade (CFCVFB) is set to hold the Cebu Fire Run 2011 slated on March 6 at the Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu Business Park grounds.
The said running event is in line with CFCVFB’s 30 years of dedicated service.
The proceeds of the run will be used to fund the “Learn not to Burn Program” of the CFCVFB.
The “Learn Not to Burn Program” teaches in a positive, non-threatening way what children and adults need to know about fire and burn prevention.
The Runcheck-managed Cebu Fire Run features three categories including the 15K, 7.5K and 3K run.
Registration fee is pegged at P300 for the 15K and P250 for the 7.5 and 3K events.
There is also a Kiddie Dash 100 meters and 200 meters. Run starts at 5 a.m. and assembly is at 4:30 a.m.
Aside from medals the top finisher will be pocketing P7,000 while the second and third placers will get P5,000 and P3,000, respectively.
Registration centers are at the Runnr (Ayala Center Cebu), Philippine Sports Commission Office (Cebu City Sports Center), Fitness First and the CFCV Fire Brigade Office.
Aside from the run, activities are lined up from March 4 to 6 in Ayala Center Cebu’s Activity Area such as booths, a photo exhibit of the volunteer firefighters in action, kiddie and adult fire drills and lectures on fire prevention and safety.
Since 1980, the Cebu Filipino-Chinese Volunteers Fire Brigade with its group of volunteer firemen has helped fight fires in the City and Province of Cebu.
Funding and volunteers come from the members of Cebu’s Filipino Chinese community.
These men render their service on a purely voluntary basis without thought of reward, compensation or recognition, but guided by a sense of civic duty and responsibility for the good of the community blazing a trail in the “Spirit of Volunteerism and Service.”
