Many people still could not get over the floods that submerged many parts of Metro Cebu last Tuesday.
Thousands were affected by the flooding including those who were stranded on the roads when traffic ground to a halt.
Many years ago, somebody asked how come sports like rowing and sailing have not been extensively promoted in our country. We have lots of water where the athletes for these events can practice.
More than being competitive sports, knowing how to row or sail would also be very important skills to help us deal with the natural calamities that hit our country.
Swimming is also a skill that we must know and encourage our kids to also learn. It is two months away to the school break. It might be a good idea to enroll our children in a swimming program.

Those who haven’t decided to play in the UP Cebu High School Batch ’84 Golf Tournament can still head to the Mactan Island Golf Club this morning as there are still slots available.
I don’t belong to the class hosting this tournament, but since they were a year ahead of me at UP Cebu, I kind of know them quite well and look up to many of them back since I was a high school freshman.
The entry fee for the tournament is pegged at P2,000. Aside from getting a chance to play and win in the tournament and raffles, the best part of this is to get a chance to share.
The class of 1984 has some scholars, who are graduates of our Alma Mater. These kids are now in college and the organizers of the event are helping them through this quite expensive stage of education.
If you can’t play, but just want to share, you can always do so by buying a ticket. This is definitely P2,000 that is going to be well spent.
The awards ceremony is set this 6 p.m. at the clubhouse of the MIGC.
See you at MIGC today!

While I will be playing in Mactan, part of me will also be at the Philippine Navy Golf Club in Metro Manila where my classmates from PMA Sambisig class of 1991 will also be hosting a tournament.
This was originally set last December and I already had my plane ticket ready, but organizers had to reschedule it to allow more to participate.
I wish my mistahs all the best for the tournament and I am looking forward to seeing you next month instead.
