PLDT-Smart 10-Miler set

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - After supporting several running events here, Smart Communications Inc. is finally coming up with its own dubbed as the PLDT-Smart 10 Miler on January 30 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Organizers are staging this event as a recovery run for those who joined the 2011 Cebu City Marathon said race director Raffy Uytiepo in yesterday’s launching at Marco Polo Plaza Hotel.

Aside from that, this event is also a fund-raising activity benefiting public school children through PLDT and Smart’s education program.

The event will feature a 16-kilometer race in the premiere class spiced up with the 10, 5 and 3-k run for starters.

Close to P46 thousand cash prize is at stake for the top performers of the event.

Under the 16-km and 10-km action, the top 10 finishers get cash prizes and top 5 for the two other divisions.

Aside from the running event, a photo contest is also being featured, not only for the photo journalists, but for all interested individuals.

Registration fee for this event is pegged at P250 for the 10, 5 and 3-k runs and P350 for the 16-k action.

A discount of P50 will be given to runners who purchase smart pre-paid products on a first-come-first serve basis though.

Singlets and other perks will be given away to participants as well as a free Red Mobile SIM and a finisher’s t-shirt for all the finishers.

Registration centers are Runnr at the Ayala Center-Cebu, Cebu City Sports Center, Casa Ilongga at Robinson’s Place-Cebu and at Smart’s Experience Center at SM Cebu. (FREEMAN)
