Tandem of Sebastian and Pe up

- Nimrod NL Quiñones -

CEBU, Philippines - The tandem of Glenn Sebastian and Perry Pe combined for 86 points yesterday to lead the field in the 30th Coral Invitational at the Cebu Country Club halfway through the four-day event.

With the weather again holding for another day despite some showers in the afternoon, several teams were able to post good scores in the event, which uses the Modified Stableford Scoring System.

Sebastian told The Freeman that he played pretty good and sank some birdies, which he believed helped his team. Pe is a businessman from Manila.

First day leaders Andrew Parrott and Martin Bell and Eugene Tio and Henry Chu dropped to a share of second with 83 points apiece.

Marko Sarmiento and Mark Garcia scored 82 points while three teams are tied with 81 apiece – Boboy Durano and Hospicio Razon, Henry Uy and Stewart Go, and Kim Kwang Seok and Andrew Cañete.

Rounding up the top ten are three teams with 80 points apiece. These are that of Nino Bascon and Dominic Hing, Jay Yuvallos and John Schiling, and Ramon Sebastian and Renson Que. Ramon is the uncle of Glenn.

Three other teams have 79 points – Tito Pintor/Marlou Cugtas, Wendell Yap/Rodante Joya, and Joe Abellana/Jingo Abellana.

The scoring format gives the player six points for a net double-eagle, five for an ace, four for eagle, three for birdie, two for par, and one for bogey.

The first half of the field will play their second round today in this 36-hole tournament, which is the club’s signature event.

Two teams logged 79 apiece – Bebot Baldemor and Choi Ramos and that of Loloy Soriaga and Wally Warrick.

Bobit Avila and Sim Guinocor are one point further back.

Rounding up the top ten are the teams of Chito Misa and retired Air Force General Nestor Santillan, Manuel Granada and Elro de los Reyes, and that of Cesar Chan and Danny Co all with 73 points each. (FREEMAN)
