Yeo sizzles in Alta Vista Monthly Medal

CEBU, Philippines - Alex Yeo led the winners of the November Monthly Medal of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club last weekend shooting five-over-par 77 strokes to rule class A.

Yeo had nines of 36 and 41 strokes in the 18-hole contest.

The lowest net plum for the premiere handicap class went to Loloy Sabuga with a net score of 69 strokes edging Vic Gocela for the honors as they both had the same net score. Gocela settled for the runner-up trophy.

The lowest gross for class B was made by Richard Lim, who fired 79 strokes off nines of 38 and 41.

Lowest net honors for class B went to Benjie Hortelano, who fired 66 strokes off a gross 81. Runner-up honors went to Cristino Lim with a net score of 67 edging Alvin Suarez in the countback.

Hansel Ong once again towered above the rest in class C shooting 89 strokes to win the lowest gross honors beating Kanji Terasawa in the countback.

The lowest net honors went to Willy Go, who fired 66 strokes. Terasawa took the runner-up honors with a net score of 70.

Nonoy Tirol had a tournament-best 75 strokes to bag the lowest gross honors for the seniors’ division.

The lowest net title for the seniors’ class was taken by Roger Lo with 64 strokes edging Oscar Sanchez in the countback. Sanchez took the runner-up honors.

Alyeska Yunam fired 84 strokes and edged Ericka Lim to win the lowest gross honors for the ladies’ category.

Lim, who had a net score of 71, won the lowest net plum.

Fred Chiongbian topped the guest division that used the Callaway format shooting a net score of 72 strokes. Runner-up honors went to Akira Hatano with a net score of 74.

Special prizes went to Takishi Kon foir nearest the pin on hole number 7 and Shiyu Gao for the most accurate drive on hole number 11. (THE FREEMAN)
