Fight Predictions

-

CEBU, Philippines - So many boxing scholars have already said their piece on the possible outcome of the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito rumble. Here are the other ring pundits' fearless forecasts on the hotly-anticipated showdown set this Saturday night (Sunday morning RP time) at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

"Pacman in five rounds. He hasn't lost the past 12 fights and Margarito will be an easy target like Hatton. Goliath will fall to our David." — Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) President John Z. Pages

"It will end same way as the Pacquiao-Cotto fight. Referee will stop it from round nine to 11 is my guess. Margarito won’t survive Pacman. Fight fans know this that’s why the odds in Vegas are so one-sided," CITOM chairman and former City Councilor Sylvan "Jack" Jakosalem.

"Pacquiao by decision. Margarito will hold on to finish the bout but Pacquiao will prevail. Margarito has physical advantage and punching power but Pacquiao will be able to handle these problems." — International promoter Sammy G. Gello-ani

"Still Pacman. Consider his speed and experience. Although Margarito is tall, his style is easy to hit." —International Referee/Judge Teddy Alivio

"Pacquiao by decision because of weight category and height advantage of Margarito." — Games and Amusements Board (GAB)-7 supervisor Rolando Mendoza

"Pacquiao by decision. MP is not in his best shape for this fight." — Cebu City Councilor Raul "Yayoy" D. Alcoseba

"All indications point to a Pacquiao win. If reports that his training has gone the way Roach likes it, then Pacquiao is going to win. Pacquiao even at 90 percent cannot be beaten by a 100 percent Margarito." —Amateur Boxing of the Philippines (ABAP) Executive Director Ed Picson

"Pacquiao in six rounds. That's if Margarito opts to slug it out toe-to-toe with Pacquiao." — Smart Communications Sports Head Partick C. Gregorio

"Margarito is bigger but he is rusty. Pacman may be smaller but he can equalize it with his blinding speed. Pacman’s power is too much for Margarito. I go for Pacman by KO on or before eighth round." — Sports Organizer Archt. Alan "Big Al" G. Choachuy

"Pacquiao by TKO at round five or six. The style of Margarito is tailor-made for Pacquiao. Also, Margarito is not a good defensive fighter and he loves to mix it up with his opponents which makes him an easy prey for Pacquiao."— Legendary trainer Jun Ablaca

"It's going to be a 50-50 fight for Pacquiao. Margarito is bigger and the more hungrier fighter. He has been sidelined for several months so he will surely try very hard to win this fight. But that all depends if Margarito won't get caught by Pacquiao's devastating punch." — GAB-7 Officer-In-Charge Celso G. Miranda (THE FREEMAN)
