Super Idols vs. Pañeros in IBP cage final
CEBU, Philippines – Defending champion Super Idols defeated the Litigators, 76-72, even as the Pañeros nipped the Pecandela Law Firm, 58-56, to arrange a finals showdown in the 5th Lawyer's League Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Mayor's Cup basketball tourna-ment at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street, this city.
Fermin Pepito unleashed 13 of his 17 points in the fourth period to ignite a big run for the Super Idols.
It was Benjo Santiago who led the Super Idols though with 22 points while Cris Abayon added 11 markers.
The Litigators were led by Edward Bauzon with17 points. His brother Richard had 12 points, while Jun Felicitas added 11 markers.
The Pañeros, on the other hand, survived a scare from Pecandela, which led at halftime, 23-21.
Rowel Juban, who sparked the searing run in the final period, nailed 17 points for the Pañeros, while Dennis Aliño and Michael Molde added 10 points apiece. (FREEMAN)
