Simpolang rules FYA Caging

CEBU, Philippines - Simpolang Barbekyuhan of playing coach Noel Medalle toppled the Viking Haulers, 85-81, to win the championship of the 2nd F. Llamas Youth Association (FYA) basketball tournament at the Alta Vista gym in Brgy. Pardo, this city.

Butoy Tabares led Simpolang with 21 points, enough for him to snatch the coveted MVP award.

Ryan Villaver added 18 points for Simpolang, while Nico Laborte, who was named into the Mythical Five, finished with 13 points.

The Viking Haulers were led by Baeng Medalle and Toper Limbaga, another member of the Mythical Five, who banged in identical 19 points. The other members of the Mythical Five were Dexter Caballero of third placer Park ‘N Go Bakeshop and Heartfelt Angel’s Onyot Masongsong.

Dodong Cabigas of Viking Haulers bagged the Sportsmanship Award.

Park ‘N Go Bakeshop earlier claimed the third spot by beating Heartfelt, 70-69.
