De los Santos back in top running form

CEBU, Philippines - After a so-so performance last week, Mary Grace de los Santos is back on top after topping the women’s 10K open of the 2010 Mechanical Engineering Run yesterday at the Terraces grounds of Ayala Center Cebu.

De los Santos crossed the finish line with the best time of 40 minutes and 32.16 seconds. Madelyn Carter came in second with a 42:28.13 clocking followed by Joeyry Lee in 42:52.47.

In the men’s division, Jobert Carolino emerged as the fastest contender with the time of 33:42.75. Adonis Singson settled for the second place honors in 34:07.54, while Riez Enriquez occupied the third spot in 34:29.84.

Elmer Bartolo and Joy Tabal did not have any regrets after they opted to see action in the shorter 5K category.

Bartolo took the men’s title in 16:20.82 followed by Joel Delposo (16:25.46) and Jorry Ycong (16:46.40), while Tabal ruled in the distaff side with the time of 19:51.57 followed by Aiza Suaybaguio (20:41.64) and Clarisse Diongson (21:18.83).

In the 3K run for athletes aged 12 years old and below, Mark Lee Lucero bagged the top spot in the boys class with the time of 10:40.49. Rellan Felicio placed second in 11:16.38 followed by Roger Baguio in 11:19.21.

In the girls bracket, Lovely Fe Andrin finished first with a 11:37.36 clocking. Adela Canillo (1:54.98) and Kizha Mae Delechos (11:58.99) filled in the next two spots.

Meanwhile, two separate running events will take place early morning today - the Run to the Max Series 3 at Holiday Gym and Spa and the 2nd Gullas Run in Talisay City. (FREEMAN)
