Sta. Lucia Golf Tour today at AVGCC

CEBU, Philippines - Host Alta Vista Golf and Country Club hopes to get back into business as the second leg of the 2010 Santa Lucia Golf Tour tees off today.

The tournament opened last month at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club in Davao City.

The Davaoeños hold the overall lead by amassing 60 points in the first leg. Eagle Ridge of Cavite is second with 42 points while Alta Vista, winner of the last edition of the event, is a far third with 40 points.

With very few teams playing this year, AVGCC seems to have kissed its title hopes good bye, but those who are seeing action in the three-leg tournament are still hoping to pull some surprises.

The course will be closed to the public today and tomorrow because of the tournament.

This two-man team event uses the Molave Points System. This awards seven points for a double eagle, six for an ace, five for eagle, four for birdie, three for par, two for bogey, and one for double-bogey.

The awards ceremony will be held tomorrow night at the AVGCC Golfers’ Lounge.

The tournament is open exclusively to good standing members of golf clubs developed by Santa Lucia Realty and Development Inc.

Other clubs participating in the tournament are Summit Point, Royale Tagaytay, Beverly Place, Orchard, Lakewood, and Caliraya Springs. (THE FREEMAN)
