Montenegro dominates Dennis Tan Memorial darts

CEBU, Philippines - Steve Montenegro dominated the singles event of the 1st Dennis Tan Memorial Cup Darts tournament at Baseline Sports and Recreation Center.

It was a sweet victory for Montenegro as he overpowered the twice-to-beat Alan Veloso for the title.

Montenegro beat Veloso, 2-1, in the final round to forge a decider. He went on to vanquish Veloso via a 2-0 decision.

Max Pepito grabbed the third place trophy after defeating Roger Dequit.

In the doubles competition, Boy Gionzon and Lito Peresores of Team Gensan-Pacman wrapped up the champion’s trophy after outlasting Cebuano Boy Campugan and Jun Bayawa of Cagayan de Oro.

Two other Cebuanos in Rayden Colina and Junex Perez came out third after beating Wennie Ocañada and Dhilexie Ybanez of CDO.

Tony Pudador and Pong Tobes along with Max Pepito and Bulldog Batusin were at joint fifth and sixth places, while Alvin Villa and Mac Calimba and Roy Laude and Morex Galanza shared the seventh and eighth spots. (THE FREEMAN)
