SWU won't play vs. Webmasters today

- GGM -

CEBU, Philippines – Controversies continue to hound the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball tournament even if it has reached the semifinal stage.

This as the sudden change of the semifinal schedule will force the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras to default their game against the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters.

Cobras team manager Ryan Aznar told The Freeman yesterday they will not play against the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters and will play only if they are pitted against the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors.

"Over my dead body. No matter if we are banned for life we will not play unless San Carlos among kontrahon," said Aznar.

He also said in vernacular "bahala na'g i-ban my for life basta dili gyud mi moduwa. Tan-awon lang nato kung kinsay mau-wawan. School league man kaha ni?"

Team officials of the Warriors led by coach Mike Reyes visited Aznar at his office at the SWU yesterday for dialogue and consultation of the official schedule.

In the official schedule of games given during the start of the CESAFI last July 31, the semifinal schedules for October 2 which is today, read Winner Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 and Winner Game 2 vs. Loser Game 1.

The Cobras who won in the first semifinals game vs. the UV Lancers would have to play against the USC warriors while it would have been UC vs. UV.

The Loser vs. Loser and Winner vs. Winner schedule would have been played tomorrow yet. (FREEMAN)
