Montecillo and Limpag rule Press Freedom Run
CEBU, Philippines - Jurlito Montecillo and Marlene Limpag emerged as the fastest runners among media practitioners to rule their respective division in this year’s Press Freedom Run at the Cebu Business Park grounds yesterday.
Montecillo of Wild FM outsmarted Joefrey Quiñones of dyRF for the top spot in the men’s 5K run with the time of 21 minutes and 31.05 seconds. Quiñones posted 23:20.88, while Juvy Veloso of Sunstar wound up third with a 24:34.36 clocking.
In the distaff side, Limpag capitalized on the absence of defending champion Haide Acuña to take home the champion's trophy with the time of 30:13.23.
It was actually a one-two finish for Sunstar as Anreama Llerin came in second with the time of 31:07.65.
Divine Ngujo of The FREEMAN bagged the third place honors with the time of 33:39.59.
In the women's 3K action, Sunstar's Laureen Mondenado took the first place honors in 21:42.42 followed by ABS-CBN’s Vilma Andales in 22:02.03 and Sunstar’s Hazel Toledano in 22:40.96.
In the men's bracket, Cebu Daily News’ Gabby Lariosa clinched the title with the time of 14:03.36, while Sunstar’s William Rama and Ernesto Cabahug occupied the next two spots.
Meanwhile, two races will take place today - the World Heart's Day Run at Ayala Center-Cebu Terraces and the USC 'Dagan Alang sa Kabataan' at the Asiatown IT Park in Brgy. Apas. (FREEMAN)
