CEBU, Philippines - Men’s defending champion University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) seeks for its fourth straight victory as the games resume today in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) volleyball tournament today at the Aznar Coliseum.
USJ-R of Cebu Sports Hall of Famer coach Grace Antigua, which aims for a rare grandslam feat, clashes with Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) in the opening match at 8 am.
The reigning champion will bank on team captain Leoniel Sanchez along with CHED National Games MVP and Best Blocker Jesriel Pino, Kevin Casia, James Lawas and Jayvelle Rojas.
Another tough title contender, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), faces the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U), while the University of San Carlos (USC) will battle the University of Cebu (UC) in the main dish of the morning session,
In the afternoon games featuring the women’s bracket, USPF will tackle UC. USC, on the other hand, will go up against the University of the Visayas (UV), while USJ-R hopes to close the day with a bang when it collides with CDU. (THE FREEMAN)
