Aegis evens series in BPO finals

CEBU, Philippines - Aegis People Support lashed back at the Teletech Titans, 76-70, to even their best-of-three finals series at one game apiece in the 6th Inter-BPO basketball tournament at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Jomie Mendez and Mariel Vincent Barrera powered Aegis People Support with 4 points combined.

APS took an early 23-15 lead, but Erwin Abellanosa sparked a searing 20-14 run to put Teletech on top by two points at halftime, 39-37.

After a short break, Clifford Amarado and Mendez put their acts together to whip up a furious offensive storm in the final half to blow away Teletech.

Mendez and Barrera were heavily backed up by Amarado with 19 points on top of 10 rebounds.

Abellanosa paced Teletech with 23 points,while Laurenz Sultan, Raul Cabahug IV and Fidel Tejam Jr. finished with 10 points apiece.

Meanwhile, Mendez was named as the regular season MVP. He was joined then in the Mythical Five by Jopher Regidor and Albert Johnston of Qualfon and Abellanosa and Lourenz Limpangog of Teletech.

The rest of the awardees were Tejam (king of blocks), Reinario Salibay of Wipro (king of steals), Mendez, Ryan Benlota of Eperformax (king of rebounds), Gilbeys Cabrera of Stream Global Teleservices (assists leader), and Roderick Mangubat of Stream (scoring champion).
