Cheling Garcia Cup tees off at CCC today

CEBU, Philippines - The 6th Cheling Garcia Memorial Tournament takes place today at the Cebu Country Club.

The event, which used to be a monthly medal, is now a stand alone tournament organized by the family of the former president of CCC.

Set to take part in the tournament are close friends, business partners and sponsors, who will be battling it off in an 18-hole strokeplay format.

Major sponsors of the tournament are JEG Development Corporation, Vivant Corp., Cebu Energy Development Corp., and VECO.

Other major backers are Federal Land, Aboitiz Power, ICS Renewable, Gigawatt Power Inc., Pagcor, and Blaze Marketing.

The event is also backed by Genvi Development Corp., Prohomes, Redgolf, Andorra Tiles, San Sebastian, Rhine Marketing, J.P. Garcia and Associates, and Club Serena Resorts.

Havaianas, Rainbow, Kanyoen, Cesar Libi, Gerry Goking and top pro Frankie Miñoza are also supporting the tournament, said Marko Sarmiento, grandson of Garcia.

Sarmiento added that most of the participants are members of the host club.
