2010 Corn Tee at CFIC on September 8 to 11

CEBU, Philippines - The 2010 Corn Tee, the annual member-guest tournament of Club Filipino Incorporada de Cebu tees off on September 8 to 11 at the CFIC course in Pulangyuta, Danao City.

The four-day, 36-hole tournament will be a four-man team event where each squad must have not more than one member of the host club.

The entry fee has been pegged at P10,000 per team and a maximum of 75 teams will be accepted said Jiji Gullas, the tournament chairman.

The Modified Stableford Scoring System and the August 16 handicap will be used for the tournament. Those whose clubs are not part of the regional handicapping network in Cebu, must submit a club certified handicap.

At stake will be prizes for the overall champion team as well as the 1st to 4th runners-up.

There will also be an award for the individual with the best score for two days.

The scoring format awards six points for a net double-eagle, five for an ace, four for eagle, three for birdie, two for par, and one for bogey. A player, who is playing for no more point must pick up to speed up the play.

Gullas said that great giveaways await all participants and the awards ceremony will be held at the Budyong Hall of Casino Filipino Mactan inside the Waterfront Airport Hotel in Lapu-Lapu City.

The members of the first 20 teams to register will also be given a free round of golf each.

Gullas also said that there are enough carts for those who would be playing, but these are for rent.

The CFIC course is carved in the mountains of barangay Pulangyuta and was built by Peter Chiongbian, who was fondly referred to as Maestro by many Cebuano golfers. Chiongbian was enshrined into the Cebu Sports Hall of Fame for his contribution to the sport of golf.
