CEBU, Philippines - The taller Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) Wildkittens employed a crippling half-court defense and scored a lot of fastbreak points to demolish the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Junior Greywolves, 91-65, in last night's lone secondary match of the 10th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) season at the Cebu Coliseum.
Down by 11 points, 25-34, the Junior Greywolves rallied back to cut down the deficit to just four points, 43-47, with three minutes left in the period.
However, the Wildkittens answered several points quickly that they took a 57-43 lead before the third period ended.
The Junior Greywolves backcourt woes continued in the fourth quarter as the Wildkittens mounted a 24-point bulge, 86-60, with only two minutes before the final horn.
Power forward John Lucerna topscored with 22 points as the Wildkittens improved their win-loss record to 2-3, while dropped their rivals to 0-5. Rannie Laborte and Marc Neri chipped in 13 and 10 points, respectively.
