CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s beach volley stalwarts will test each other’s might through the 1st Wireless Beach Volley Women’s Open set from August 28 to 29 at Wireless in Mandaue City.
RP Team member and former Nestea national champ Jusabelle Brillo and erstwhile RP Youth mainstay Genie Sabas are among the stars to watch out for in the two-day tiff.
The other tough pairs who confirmed their participation are Mechelle Matuguina and Jullete Mae Marikit, Kennette Garces and Marissa Lagancia, Czarie Cañete and Kathy Jumapao, Cheche Bohol and Florian Guttierez and the Rivera sisters Queenilyn and Syril.
Unfortunately, Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI)-bound athletes are prohibited from joining the competition.
“We did not allow them to play in our tournament because we don’t want them to be in conflict since we assume our tournament coincides with the CESAFI schedule,” said event organizer Cristina Ybañez.
Registration fee is pegged at P500 per team.
Aside from trophies, the champion will pocket P5,000, while the second and third placers will get P3,000 and P2,000, respectively. – THE FREEMAN
