Mancao to spearhead running lecture today at CDU

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - Before showcasing their wares in the 5th CDU University Run this Sunday, participants and other interested parties will learn further about the elements as well as the benefits of running through a free lecture to be conducted by Dr. Peter Mancao at 3 pm today at Cebu Doctors’ University in Mandaue City.

Peter Mancao, a heart surgeon, is a certified marathoner not only in local running events but also abroad.

Runners, especially the neophytes, are encouraged to attend the talk to know more about some safety measures in running.

Aside from the free talk, the event organizers added another first time activity for the run - a dancing contest among running clubs.

A celebrity endorser from Smart Communications is also expected to spice up the race.

The dance contest will be done during the awarding ceremony. So far, three running clubs have already confirmed their entry in Ungo sa Dagan headed by Dindz Bartolobac, Run Belly Run headed by Hazes Sanchez and The Guardo Dancers headed by sports patrons Atan and Gerry Guardo.

As of this writing yesterday, over 2,000 fitness buffs have registered for the fifth edition of the annual footrace spearheaded by CDU through Dr. Yong Larrazabal of the Run for Sight Foundation.

The one-day tilt is held in association with Smart, Nature’s Valley, St. James Drinking Water, Julie’s Bakeshop, Del Monte and Dragon Works, which will provide an elaborate fireworks display at the firing of the starting gun. – THE FREEMAN
