Losiaboi, De los Santos top St. Ignatius Run

CEBU, Philippines - The return of Cebu’s dominant road runners Simon Losiaboi and Mary Grace de los Santos left the rest of the participants helpless as the two ruled the 10K open division of the St. Ignatius Day Run at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Brgy. Canduman, Mandaue City yesterday.

Losiaboi, who skipped last Sunday’s battle to rest an injured foot, decided to join the race and won the top spot in 33 minutes and 55.76 seconds.

Riez Enriquez wound up second in 34:27.33, while Robert Daang claimed the third place in 34:47.02.

In the distaff side, De los Santos, who skipped back-to-back action last week in favor of the GenSan leg of the 34th National Milo Marathon, returned to Cebu with another title. She posted the time of 38:05.03 in what could have been just a recovery run for her.

Mareeis Ramirez grabbed the second place honors with a time of 44:59.28 as Melinda Ponce settled third in 51:43.12.

After landing eighth in a 15K open action last week, Dr.Yong Larrazabal continued to improve his skills in running even with his hectic schedule as an eye surgeon.

Larrazabal emerged as the fastest among the SHS-ADC alumni with a time of 43:56.55, which is also his personal best.

Arnold Go landed second in 44:10.69 followed by Manuel Zosa III in 48:13.41 and Joefranz Canizares in 50:09.42.

In the 5K division, Philip Duenas clinched the title in 15:52.12 followed by Joel Delposo in 15:55.26. Jory Ycong placed third in 16:01.09.

Mary Joy Tabal got the top spot in 18:32.05 followed by Joeyry Lee in 19:52.99 and Crizel Diongson in 20:32:83.

The faculty members of SHS-ADC also had a great time with Mario Sala crossing the finish line first in the 5K class in 39:11.03 followed by Mylene Bersabal in 40:14.13 and Rubina Peralta in 40:24.37.

In the 3K open, Elyah Dignos outsmarted James Noval for the title with the time of 11:03.06, while the distaff side was won by Lorna Olarita in 13:06.16. (FREEMAN)
