Eight teams to see action in FYA hoop

CEBU, Philippines - A total of eight teams have already confirmed their participation in the second season of the F. Llamas Youth Association (FYA), which is slated to kick off on August 1 at the Vicente Sotto Memogial Gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.

The contending squads are defending champion Rolly Boyz of Punta Princesa Brgy. Capt. Rolly Diorico, Viking Haulers of FYA president Arnel Trinidad, Heartfelt Angels of Grace Magsalay, Simpolang Barbecue Haus of Rollando Allan Trinidad, CRV of Christian R. Villacastin, Angelica of Michael Garcia, Park ‘N Go Bakeshop of Romy Rama and Crissar of Crissar Llegunas.

Cebu City Mayor Michael L. Rama has been invited to grace the opening ceremony that will be highlighted by the selection of Miss FYA 2010 and best in uniform.

The event organizers revised the format of the tournament from two brackets last year to a single bracket this time.

The top two teams after the single round robin elimination will automatically advance into the semifinals. The next four will meet in the crossover with the No.3 taking on No.6 and No.4 going up against No.5.

The survivors will then clash with the top two finishers, with the winners slugging it out for the championship. (FREEMAN)
