Honda One Make race tomorrow
CEBU, Philippines – The Honda One Make Series ends its 2009-2010 races with a historic night race tomorrow at Kartzone in Panagdait, Mabolo, this city.
This will be the first time that a night race for an underbone or road race action will be taking place here in Cebu.
Since 2001, this will also be Kartzone's first time to host a night race according to Kym Angelo Limgenco, the manager of the facility.
Event organizer Jong Uy and Juno Villena, sales manager of Honda Philippines Incorporated, are making sure that this night race will be safe and successful.
Aside from the existing lights at Kartzone, organizers will also put additional lighting if needed.
Organizers are also anticipating the possible "attack" of frogs in the racetrack due to the rainy season. To avoid such, nets will be placed to keep the frogs from going inside the racetrack.
Honda Philippines decided to have a night race for its final leg in the Visayas and Mindanao area to give the riders in Southerm Philippines a chance to experience such.
"I saw a night race in Manila last April. Then I said, if it can be done in Manila, why not do it in Cebu as well," Villena said in a press conference at Kartzone's lounge yesterday.
Spearheading Cebu's bid for supremacy are Gary Cañeda and Peter Gjengaar, two of the top local bets vying for the Rider of the Year in Visayas.
Keken Cabahug of Cyrus Racing / Honda Motorworld Race team, 2009 Cebu Rider of the year Lyndon Requilme and teammate Moises Munoz of TMAC Racing/Honda Motorworld are also expected to see action and give a good fight.
