Cebu bets shine in Manila dancefest

CEBU, Philippines - Dancesport-Team Cebu City took home seven gold, nine silver and six bronze medals spotlighted by another sterling performance by Ronnie Vergara and Charlea “Chanda” Lagaras in the premiere latin grade A division in the 2010DSCPI National Dancesport Mid-Year Rankings and Competition at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila the other night.

Vergara and Lagaras continued to represent DTCC and were blessed with back-to-back victories in the latin grade A.

Newcomer Crispin Sato and Therese Andre Quilaton emerged as the lone double gold medallists for DTCC through the juvenile C modern standard and latin class.

As expected, Eleanor Hayco also delivered the goods after winning gold in the standard grade B with Lloyd Batolini and a bronze in the latin special event 5-dance action with Anselmo Estillore.

Christopher Corro and Hanna Jane Deluvio’s partnership clicked this time as they grabbed the gold in the standard SE 1 female category, while Lark Jabonero and Mary Ann Ferrer ruled the latin SE male class and placed third in the SE event-1 female.

Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Marie Cañeda, for their part, handed a gold and a silver. Their gold came from the latin youth A and the silver from the standard discipline.

Rinzon and Reyana Mae Elarcosa likewise made waves by taking away a silver in the latin junior A and a bronze in the standard class.

Mae Pabuaya and Samson Orlanes picked up a silver under the standard grade C along with six other bets of DTCC in Mark Rhony Flores and Michaelyn Ledda in the SE 1 female, Jefferson Pimentel and Daine Xyleen Balili in the latin youth A, Davin Unabia and Kinue Sakurai in the standard senior C, Alexander Montero and Maria Zonnette Balbuena in the latin senior C, Mark Rhony Flores and Michaelyn Ledda in the standard grade D and Nelson Jabono and Venus Balde in the latin grade D.

Victoria Alix and Renante Saldua ended their return on the dancefloor with a bronze through the SE 2-female.

Jeric Canoy and Jessa Mae Briones and Roque and Rhea Marquez also turned over bronze each via the standard youth and latin youth division, respectively. (THE FREEMAN)
