Team C tops Deep Blue chess tourney
CEBU, Philippines - Team C edged out Team B, 2-1, to rule the Deep Blue ‘D’ Woodpusher Executive Chess Team Tournament at the Deep Blue Chess Club at the second level of SM City-Cebu.
Team C, composed of Romeo Lumanog, Condrad Pasion and Marvyne Guardiana, completed the five-round Swiss system competition with 9.0 points to take home the P2,000 champion’s purse.
Team B, manned by Miguel Banibane, Jovert Uy and Saturnino Sanchez, pocketed P1,500 for placing second with 6.0 points, while Team D of Jefferson Lendio, Manuel Abucay and Rey Mendoza wound up third with 5.0 points.
The board medallists were Maggi Dionson (F), Jovert Uy (B) and Marvyne Guardiana (C).
The event, supervised by international arbiter Marvil Ruelan assisted by Tony Cabibil, was made possible through the support of Carlos Tan of Vis-Min Marketing, Atty. Boy Tan, NCM Print and Design, Jun Mendoza and Edgar Hortelano.
