Deep Blue to stage chess team contest

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano chess enthusiasts brace for another mind-draining battle with the staging of the Deep Blue "D" Woodpusher Chess Team Tournament at 1 pm on June 30 at the Deep Blue Chess Clun at the second level of SM City-Cebu.

Exclusive to Deep Blue members only, the one-day tilt follows a single round robin former. Members of the team will be determined by drawing of lots at the start of the competition.

The champion will pocket P3,000, while the second and third will receive P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. Individual board medallists will get P500 each.

The tournament is sponsored by Atty. Boy Tan, Carlos Tan of Vismin Marketing, Marcial Capitan, Jr., NCM Paint and Design and Edgar Hortelano.

The games will be supervised by international arbiter Marvin Ruelan assisted by Tony Cabibil.  (FREEMAN NEWS)
