5 teams to join JBA Caging

CEBU, Philippines - Five teams will see action in the 2010 Jaycees Basketball Association (JBA) Metro Cebu Uptown Jaycees basketball tournament, which will kick off on June 23 at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Working committee chairman Engr. Reeve Jumawan said the contending squads are the Threesome Events/Sticker World Advertising, Savers Home Depot, Sherilin Plastics, AMBL/ACDC and Mang Inasal.

Jumawan said the complete schedule as well as the list of all players will be released on Tuesday.

To ensure a balanced competition, the members of Metro Cebu Uptown Jaycees grouped their top centers, forwards and pointguards and evenly distributed them to the different teams through drawing of lots.

Games will be played at 7:30 pm on Wednesdays and at 5:30 pm on Sundays following a single round robin format.

The opening games and other technical matters were discussed the other day during a general membership meeting at the Mango Park Hotel presided over by incoming Metro Cebu Uptown Jaycees president Carlos Porras, Jr.

The league will be supervised by commissioner Robert “Bobby Knight” Inoferio, who is also the president of the Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (SCOOP)-Cebu Chapter.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
