Eritire rules 4th Y101 Corporate Cup

CEBU, Philippines - Eritire bagged the title in the premier Platinum division of the 4th Y101 Corporate Cup, which took place Friday at the par-72 Cebu Country Club.

The team fired a tournament-best 116 points in the four-to-play, three-to-count format using the Modified Stableford Scoring System. 

The winning team was powered by brothers Gabriel, Jr. and Gilbert Yap, who both scored 39 points. Collin Go added 38 and their fourth member Lucio Tapnio made 23, which did not count for the team total.

Second place for the category went to Kanyoen with 113 points. Counting for the team were Tadashi Ochiai with 42, Masatsugu Ochiai with 36 and either of the 35s turned in by Koichi Horii and Susumu Hangai.

Red Golf took third place with 110 points edging Anan Team. Red Golf was led by young player Gen Nagai with 40 points while reigning Cebu Country Club junior champion Lloyd Jefferson Go added 36. Kiyofumi Takahashi added 34. The team’s fourth player was Frederic Chiongbian with 25.

Purcia Transport, which got a big lift from team owner Guilbert Purcia, topped the Gold division with 115 points. Purcia scored a tournament-best 44 points. Also counting for the team total were Macky Michael with 37 and George Tsai with 34. The fourth member was Toby Florendo with 32.

First runner-up honors went to Tots and Toddlers Inc. with 114 points courtesy of Marlo Cugtas with 40, Roy Damole 38, and Peter Po II with 36. The fourth player was Koko Holganza with 34 points.

The second runner-up honors went to Bad Boys 1 with 110 points. Wendell Yap shot 40 points while Kim kwang Seok had 38 and Ben Li made 32. Jojo Ong was the fourth player with 16 points.

The Silver division title went to Bad Boyz 3 with 109 points. The team was composed of Doli Cabahug with 38, Marcelo Tan with 37, James Tan with 34 and the fourth member was Alan Larot with 32.

Second place went to Petron with 102 points. Jun Tolentino led the team with 37 while Ben Gothong made 35 and Nestor Mendoza had 30.

Vanex Trading finished third with a total of 101 points. The team was composed of Arturo Go with 36, team owner Ramon Sebastian had 33, The FREEMAN managing editor Nimrod Quiñones with 32 and Ang Chiong with 30.

Bayani Garcia was recognized for scoring the lowest gross with two-under-par 38 points while Purcia won the lowest net honors with eight-under-par 44.

The tournament allowed the players to use only three-fourths of their current handicap.

The awards night was capped by the participation of the Playboy Philippines Playmates and Bunnies as well as the radio personalities from Y101 led by their CEO Martha Tuason. (FREEMAN NEWS)
