CEBU, Philippines - Johnny Arcilla sealed his trip to Central Visayas with another double victory as he topped the 2010 Panglao National Open Tennis Competition in Panglao Island, Bohol the other day.
A day after successfully defending his singles and doubles crown during the 3rd Cebuana Lhuillier Tennis Circuit here in Cebu, Arcilla and the rest of the top-rated players proceeded to Bohol.
Arcilla, whose mother is a Cebuana, is currently the country’s top player.
He ran roughshod over the opposition in Bohol and took the title with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the much-younger Kim Ivor Saraza.
Saraza, for his part, could not ask for more as what he achieved in Bohol was way beyond expected including his upset win over the number two seed Elbert Anasta in the semifinal round.
Arcilla also got a double victory after winning the doubles title with an amateur partner, making it three-in-a-row double win in the Visayas region in a month, two double titles here in Cebu and one in Bohol.
Arcilla returned to Manila yesterday afternoon and bared to The Freeman that he will be busy preparing for the Davis Cup in China next month.
The RP squad is set to leave on the fourth of July while the tournament starts on the 9th and end on the 11th of the month. (FREEMAN NEWS)
