Y101 Corporate Cup and the Amo Cup
Make sure you are free this June 18 to play golf. If you have something scheduled on that day, I suggest you find a way to reschedule it or maybe scrap it.
This is because the 4th Y101 Corporate Cup is taking place on the 18th at the Cebu Country Club.
Martha Tuason, Y101’s Chief Executive Officer, told me yesterday that she has already received a lot of reservations for the event and would be posting the sign up sheet very soon.
The tournament became popular because of the raffle prizes that include a lot of guns. Yes, that’s right, guns courtesy of Armscor, a company owned by Martha’s family.
She said that there would even be bigger prizes this year and the entry fee will still be P10,000 per team of four players.
Since this is called the Y101 Corporate Cup, the teams must represent companies, Martha said.
She also said that the giveaways will again come from Philips just like the last two editions of the tournament.
While the raffles may be something that the players always look forward to, there is also the awards night show that, Martha said, will be sponsored by Playboy Philippines Magazine.
If you want to know more about how you can sign up, contact Y101 FM at 4126103 for more details.

This Sunday, Alta Vista Golf and Country Club will be hosting the 3rd Amo Cup, which is in honor of the late Albino D. Gothong, who we fondly called Amo or Tatay.
Albino was the godfather of our group that organizes tournaments for our club and was instrumental in raising the bar for the standard of golf events in Cebu.
This Sunday’s event coincides with the June Monthly Medal of AVGCC, but is also open to non-members, who will be bracketed under the guest division.
Amo always made it a point to hold tournaments where participants would get stuff that cost twice more than that they participants pay for in the registration.
The group that also calls itself as ‘Mga Anak ni Amo’ (Children of Amo) has remained intact and has continued to help put together tournaments.
This Sunday, we’re going in full force just like those days when Amo was with us to enjoy the game that he dedicated his life to.
He is very much missed and we believe that through the Amo Cup, we are keeping his legacy alive.
See you on Sunday!
